Paris Bans Protest Against Israel’s Gaza Genocide as London Imposes Strict Conditions on Pro-Palestine March

French authorities have banned a pro-Palestine demonstration planned in Paris on Wednesday, while police in London have imposed strict conditions on a student-led march calling for an end to Israel’s genocidal war against Palestinians in Gaza.

Paris (QNN)- French authorities have banned a pro-Palestine demonstration planned in Paris on Wednesday, while police in London have imposed strict conditions on a student-led march calling for an end to Israel’s genocidal war against Palestinians in Gaza.

Paris police chief Patrice Faure announced Tuesday that the demonstration, organized by the Urgence Palestine collective and billed as a protest “against the genocide in Gaza and for respect for the ceasefire,” had been prohibited.

Faure said the decision was made at the request of Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez. He claimed that such a demonstration could pose "significant risks of public disorder," citing a "high terrorist threat" and antisemitic acts that "remain at historically high levels" across France.

The planned protest was scheduled for the third anniversary of the Israeli genocide in Gaza which started in October 7, 2023.

In London, meanwhile, the Metropolitan Police said it would allow a student-led pro-Palestine march to proceed but imposed what it called “robust” conditions under the Public Order Act.

The march, organized by the University of London Coalition, is expected to travel from King’s College London in the Strand to University College London in Russell Square on Wednesday.

Under the police conditions, participants must assemble at Lincoln’s Inn Fields by 12:30pm and follow a prescribed route to Russell Square. The rally must end by 2pm, after which demonstrators must disperse. Participants are also prohibited from wearing face coverings that conceal their identities.

The Met warned that anyone breaching the conditions could be arrested. Deputy Assistant Commissioner James Harman said the force had received calls to ban the march but lacked the legal grounds to do so.

The organizers, however, have called on students to take to the streets to demand an end to the Israeli genocide in Gaza.

It has been three years since Israel launched its genocide against Palestinians in Gaza.

Israel’s assault on Gaza began on October 7, 2023, turning what had already been a 16-year siege into a total stranglehold.

Three years of Israeli attacks have killed at least 74,240 Palestinians. Thousands of other people are still under the rubble.

According to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, 92 percent of all residential buildings and 88 percent of commercial facilities had been damaged or destroyed.

Entire neighbourhoods have been wiped out, leaving millions of Palestinians displaced and without shelter.

Israel continues to attack the Palestinian enclave despite the so-called US-backed ceasefire which took effect in October 2025, killing  over 1,445 Palestinians and injuring 5,072 others.

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) warned on Monday that Israel is “progressively asphyxiating Gaza and continuing its genocide: the space in which people can live is vanishing, while the conditions people need to survive are being systematically destroyed through continued violence, the deliberate blockade of essential supplies, and the destruction of healthcare and vital infrastructure.”

“Destruction, displacement and deprivation have become normalised — practices Israel is carrying out with impunity,” Amande Bazerolle, MSF head of emergency response in Gaza, said marking three years of Israeli genocide.

“Governments must act now to ensure Israel stops the destruction and killing, prevents ethnic cleansing, and stops denying Palestinians the means of survival.”
